Save & Load

INSUL models can be saved and opened/loaded.

Save and load actions are acccessed from the File menu or from the INSUL Toolbar by clicking:

	Item	Action
	Open	Open INSUL files (.ixl, .ins )
	Save	Save the current construction in .ixl format

There are two options available for configuring the Save As action.

Saving philosophy

INSUL's calculation algorithms are regularly updatedd to refine and improve predictions. In some cases this can mean that opening an INSUL file (.ins or .ixl) from a newer version of INSUL may produce a different (generally more accurate) set of results than the verion of INSUL that was originally used to create the file.

Because of this, it is recommended to save a printout or PDF of an INSUL model at the same time as saving an INSUL (.ins or .ixl) file.

File extensions

The standard file extension for INSUL save files is '.ixl'.

Prior to INSUL version 7.0, information was stored in a file with an extension '.ins', in text format.
